Executive Director's Report

ANNUAL MEETING
October 25, 2007

This has been my first full year as Executive Director, and, in reflection, the learning curve was much quicker than I would have thought. I believe this was aided by the number of program inspections that occurred in quick succession, the need to file a self-study report, and the support from Drs. Johnson, Bates, and Buser and the ODMEs and faculty at the program sites. I am grateful to each and every one of you for your patience and willingness to assist when asked. I also had the benefit of staff in the person of Elaine Simard, who, I am happy to announce, has been promoted to the position of Director of Administrative and Educational Services. Elaine now coordinates the district and videoconference educational programs, along with administrative/bookkeeping duties and faculty appointments. I was also fortunate to have a hard-working Research Committee chaired by Judith Malinowski, Ph.D., with strong support by Marilyn Gugliucci, Ph.D., NEOMEN’s Research Director.

The OPTI was given continued accreditation by the AOA with commendations for the quality of the Research Forum, Library, and its three-year Education Plan. The two areas that need to be improved are assuring that each program has an effective Institutional Core Competency Plan and revision of the Research Plan to match the efforts currently being made by NEOMEN partners.

I am happy to welcome Kent Hospital to the NEOMEN partnership and look forward to their participation with our organization.
