Description
The Traditional Rotating
Osteopathic Internship began in 1994 as the only osteopathic
training program in Connecticut. The Internship, which is
dually accredited by the AOA, ACGME, and ABIM holds 13 PGY 1
positions. The Rotating Internship is fully integrated into
the medicine residency programs. The internship is designed
to provide house-staff with a full spectrum of clinical
experiences and patient care responsibilities that will
enable them to pursue careers in Primary Care, Internal
Medicine Subspecialties, or Non-Internal Medicine Pathways.
Our mission is to provide an outstanding educational
curriculum and foundation in Internal Medicine, Family
Practice, OB/GYN, , Surgery, Emergency Medicine and other
elective choices. Our graduates receive credit from both the
AOA and ABIM for the one-year experience. Residents
interested in continuing their education at the University
of Connecticut in either Internal Medicine or Primary Care
Medicine can proceed directly into the PGY2 year of those
respective programs upon successful completion of the
rotating internship. We anticipate the introduction of an
AOA-approved IM Residency Program with a start date of
2005.
